Flashing Buffalo WHR-G54S router

The device is supported in OpenWrt 0.9 (White Russian) and later. You need to install the openwrt-brcm-2.4-<type>.trx firmware images using the TFTP method only! This is because the installed Buffalo Firmware loader may require or perform some kind of decryption and expects a filename with a .ENC extension instead of the standard .bin or .trx.

If you have a newer hardware revision (this being written on 8/21/2006), you should use the current SVN, as there are some bricking issues on older builds of OpenWrt. (Note: RC6 seems OK). There is also different hardware versions with almost same serial. (Also on old one) So DO NOT copy nvram from router to another or you can get brick because of memory settings.

This device is based on the Broadcom chipset so the openwrt-brcm-<type>.trx image is required.

Increase DWL-2100AP Power and Frequency Range

With thanks to Daniel, who recently held my hand through the process of making it all work, I recently discovered that the D-link DWL 2100AP wireless access point is a far more worthey piece of equipment for wireless networking than I previously thought. Here are my thoughts on the DWL 2100 to date - they are still valid for standard units, but the potential for modifying the DWL 2100AP to transmit higher power and to operate on an extend frequency range by hacking it just a little bit is fantastic.

Wifi Modification AzureWave with Gigabyte Aircruiser N300

TexasGuy of the Eeeuser forum has posted a step-by-step tutorial on replacing original AzureWave 802.11b/g with a Gigabyte a/b/g/n mini pci-e card.
This is the story:
Today my gigabyte a/b/g/n mini pci-e card arrived, I removed old one and replaced it with the new one. Works, pics are here, text to follow, videos of the insides are to follow too.
Allow me to thank Directron.com for this unit that I upgrade to the max. My work place is a truly fantastic computer store full with wonderful people. Btw, black EEE PC units are coming to our store on 16th, pre-order for now.
Came home to find this:
